Sandy Beaches and Natural Springs

Phu Quoc Island

This trip will give you a taste of the tropics. Phu Quoc Island lies in the Gulf of Thailand to the south of Vietnam. It is nicknamed the Emerald Island for its glimmering natural greenery, but it also has magnificent beaches, some of the very best in Vietnam. The plush rainforest interior combined with steaming natural springs and stunning ivory sands makes Phu Quoc a truly tropical island. Where better to relax at the end of your trip?

Whether you arrive via the Mekong or take a quick flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc, you will soon be enjoying the exotic island life. You’ll stay in a charming beachfront bungalow for 3 nights, snoozing in the sun and sipping on cold beer. At the end of your stay, you'll fly back to Ho Chi Minh City. You can also choose to extend your stay on the island by a few more days. Just let us know if you'd like to do this, and we'll book everything for you.

Day 1: Arrival Phu Quoc Island

You can get to Phu Quoc Island by ferry or flight and on arrival, you'll organise your own transfer to your beach resort on peaceful Ong Lang beach. Either transfer is very easy to arrange as there is, most certainly, no shortage of taxi drivers and tuk-tuks in Vietnam.

Ong Lang is a spectacular stretch of beach lining the west side of the island, fringed by palm trees providing some welcome shade. From December to June, temperatures can soar, so be sure to bring some sunscreen. With clear blue skies and calm blue seas, Phu Quoc is a fantastic place to get away from it all.

You'll stay in enchanting and tastefully furnished bungalows. The friendly owners will make you feel welcome from the moment of your arrival. There is an excellent restaurant with a sparkling seaview for romantic sunset dinner, and tasty fresh fish is a regular feature on the menu.

Days 2 and 3: Phu Quoc Island

Today, you can just stretch out on the white sandy beach or rock gently in a hammock under the palm trees with your nose in a book. If you're feeling lively, you can swim in the azure waters, snorkel, or even take a dive to explore the underwater world. There is a diving school on the island, and it's very easy to arrange lessons. If you'd like to try diving on Phu Quoc, just let us know and we'll organise everything for you.

More restless travellers can explore the tropical wilderness of interior Phu Quoc Island. In 2001, almost 70% of the island was declared to be a national park, so the ecosystems on the island have been completely preserved. It is also mountainous and almost completely covered in rainforest, with a number of natural springs for a quick refreshing dip. The best known and most accessible spring is called the Suoi Da Ban (also called Stony Surface Stream).

On Day 3 of your stay, you'll take a boat trip to the An Thoi Islands- 15 tiny land masses that lie off the south coast. The trip is a perfect opportunity to swim, snorkel or simply snooze in the sun. You'll sail on a traditional wooden boat and a tasty lunch of fresh local fish will be served on board.

Day 4: Phu Quoc Island - Ho Chi Minh

Today, you'll leave your footsteps in the sand for the last time. After breakfast, you'll head back to Ho Chi Minh City and the bustle of the mainland. You can easily arrange a transfer to the airport on the island. From here, the speedy domestic flight back to Ho Chi Minh City takes less than an hour. Of course, you're perfectly welcome to extend your stay on the island. Just let us know, and we'll make the arrangements on your behalf.

If you’ve been travelling north to south, this is a great way to end your trip. We can organise your international flight for you- just ask and we'll give you a quote. Or, if Phu Quoc Island is the start of your Vietnam trip, then we can definitely recommend the Saigon and the Mekong module as a good introduction to the highlights of South Vietnam.

WARNING:You must not fly within 24 hours of diving.
